SPY PROMOTIONS - July 26, 2000
Email Release

We want to introduce all of you to the newest project that SPY is endorsing and promoting. The film "MERCY STREETS" is opening nationwide on October 6th, brought to you by Providence Entertainment and Signal Hill Pictures. This particular newsletter is to let you know about the reasons why SPY is behind this film, and to give you the opportunity to become involved, too. You know that SPY has always brought you some of the latest, most cutting edge music and given you opportunities to get behind your favorite bands. Now is the time for a little diversity, as we branch into promoting films. We hope that you, too, will find it to be a nice change of pace, with some unique, creative and fun opportunities to break into the film scene.

For any of you recently following the Roaring Lambs movement, as I am, you might have a bit more of an understanding as to how this film, and others from Providence, can have a lasting value on impacting our culture today. First, a quick recap of the Roaring Lambs philosophy, and why it is relevant today. The CD, inspired by the book of the same name, released this last May and features artists ranging from Sixpence None the Richer to Burlap to Cashmere to Delirious to PFR. The central themes in the music and the selection of artists is based on the philosophy of Christians being modern day "roaring lambs", people who take their gifts and talents and use them to shape culture instead of standing on the sidelines criticizing. The only way to do this is by participating and contributing to the areas that need positive influences such as the arts, sports, and entertainment. Providence Films put together their movies with the hopes of providing films that can be embraced by everyone, while providing a message that is often neglected and looked down on by popular Hollywood. (And just for your info, the soundtrack features some of SPY's favorite artists including Sixpence, Jennifer Knapp, Delirious, and possibly our friend Moby.)

So, to bring all of it together, we are asking you to be a part of shaping culture by getting in on the SPY teams. Some of the plans we have for this film include having spies meeting with the producers and actors in the film as they visit your hometown, distributing videos, fliers, postcards and other materials that promote the film, talking to people in your city about the Roaring Lambs movement and how Providence is in line with providing a Christian world view through the media.

Please, visit the websites: http://mercystreets.com and the SPY site, http://spypromotions.com to find out more. We are excited to work with you on this new endeavor.

Keep in touch,

Your friends at SPY....Kim, Nate, Paul, Seth, and Dave.
